Norris plays Eddie Cusack, a streetwise Chicago police sergeant who is caught up in a gang war between a vicious Colombian drug lord and the American mafia, while also dealing with corruption in his own department. The film was released by Orion Pictures on May 3, 1985, and was both a critical and commercial success.[4] Andrew Davis said the film "made a lot of money and I got pegged as an action director."
